I'm a photographer and videographer in San Francisco. I shoot live music and I make documentary work about people who make things with their hands.

I'm a house photographer for Stern Grove Festival, Noise Pop, and Bloodroot Ramble, and a contributing photographer for Static and Blur. I shoot for venues, festivals, and touring artists around the Bay Area. I was previously the house photographer for Casa de Francisca in São Paulo. I also work as a contract videographer for The San Francisco Standard, where I shoot short-form comedy-news series.

Most of what I know about photographing music I learned from playing it. I'm a working bassist, which means I usually know where a song is going and when the moment is about to happen.

My longer documentary work follows instrument makers. I spent four years photographing luthiers, factory workers, and repair technicians in São Paulo and across California, work that became a doctoral dissertation at UC Berkeley and an archive of thousands of images. I got into those workshops because I'm a trained guitar maker myself, and people let you stand closer when you know what you're looking at.
